Do you want to...

  • Find a job or start a business abroad?
  • Retire overseas - early or late - comfortably and cheaply?
  • Work abroad as a volunteer and make a difference?
  • Study at an overseas university or language school?

Do expats vote in US elections? How do they feel about paying US taxes? What is FATCA anyway? Find out more in our latest News/Blog post.

This is not one of those sites about tax dodging. And although a recent post shows how affordable Europe can be now that the US dollar is stronger than it has been in years, it's written for individuals who want to know more than how to live cheaply or hire household help for next to nothing.

Liveabroad.com is for those hoping for an expat experience that's life-changing in positive ways. Our articles on specific countries (see the list at the left) offer a glimpse of different cultures to provide a sense of what expat life will really be like. We write about beliefs, manners and behavior of the local people as well as climate and costs.

We also list resources for learning more. In Colombia: Transformed and Enticing, we look at the dramatic changes there and why this has become a popular expat destination. Our next articles will be on Ecuador and on Uruguay. (Be sure to check out our blog post, Uruguay - Tech-Savvy and Thriving). Keep sending us your input and your questions. Thank you!

We're especially proud our Links pages, where you'll find for job sites, volunteer opportunities, places to study abroad, and more/ Thanks for sending us your suggestions. Most are non-profit and we list them at no charge.
